Megan Maynard is a studio artist and costume designer. Born in Fort Wayne Indiana,
and raised in Decatur Indiana, most of her life has been spent in the Midwest. She received her BA in Studio Art from the University of Minnesota Morris and plans to further pursue her education with an MFA.
Using photography, performance art, and fibers, she portrays themes of childhood
innocence using common children toys such as dolls. Her works also portray themes of feminism, challenging societal views of women. Many of her works are defined with a graphic quality, utilizing thick and bold outlines that stem from her interests in comic
books and video games. She has explored a wide variety of mediums, including drawing, printmaking, fibers, digital, and performance art. Her process involves experimenting with conventional and unconventional materials as well as creating visual narratives for her audience.
